Hybrid Car, Green Car of the Year 2008

Auto Show is a big Auto Shows throughout the world. I addition to the more than 1000 cars, trucks and SUVs on display, green, the Car of the Year was presented in the exhibition this year.
2008 Green Car of the Year went to the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, or the first time a diesel-powered car has won this award since its inception in 2005.
The Jetta TDI diesel engine is now in compliance with emissions regulations in all 50 states. The 2.0-liter turbo direct injection (TDI) engine produces 140 hp and an impressive torque 236 Nm torque. For more utility, the Jetta TDI is also available as a sports car.
The Jetta TDI is chosen by a panel of automotive and environmental experts from a field of five finalists that included the BMW 335d, Ford Fusion Hybrid Car, Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid Car and Smart Fortwo.
The jury is composed of nine judges, including Carl Pope, executive director of the Sierra Club; Frances Beinecke, chairman of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Jean-Michel Cousteau, president of Ocean Futures Society; expert in the automotive sector and Tonight Show host Jay Leno, automotive icon Carroll Shelby, and four Green Car Journal editors.
The Green Car of the Year was established by the Green Car Journal highlight ecological innovation in new cars. Previous winners include the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Car, Toyota Camry Hybrid Car and Mercury Mariner Hybrid Car.
